How the government measures and reports on what’s necessary and important while also being relevant, reliable and perceived as valid by the general public is a mystery - at least, to me. Perhaps one prior question is how the GDP (as presently constructed) drives political decisions that impact personal decisions. Right now, I don’t understand how the GDP metric impedes and enables my choices; I’m blind as to how it impacts my everyday life. And, in that fog of ignorance, I doubt I’m alone.
