PC Party

On behalf of the Provincial Executive and the Leadership Convention Committee it’s my great pleasure to share with party members, details of our upcoming leadership!

Our PC Leadership convention will be held on February 9th, 2019, at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown!

I’m pleased to share with you that in an exciting first for Prince Edward Island politics we will be introducing electronic voting as part of the leadership process. This will give more Islanders an opportunity to become engaged and participate and further cement our party’s proud history as a pioneer in interactive democracy.

To become a certified leadership candidate for our party the following criteria must be met no later than November 30, 2018:

  • Be a party member in good standing;
  • Be eligible for election to the Legislative Assembly under the Elections Act;
  • Approval by the Candidate Evaluation Committee following review of their candidate application and other screening measures;
  • Nomination papers signed by 100 current party members with at least 30 signatures coming from each of the the province’s three counties (Prince, Queens and Kings);
  • Pay a candidate fee of $7,500

A campaign spending limit of $25,000 has been set for certified leadership candidates and all candidates will be expected to comply with new provincial election financing rules which came into effect this year.

Our volunteer executive and Leadership Convention Committee have been hard at work over the past few weeks making plans for this exciting leadership process. More details will be shared with you over the coming weeks as we embark on the exciting process of selecting the new Leader of the Progressive Conservative party and the next Premier of Prince Edward Island!
